A photographic journey at the heart of Indian cinema.

While following various shooting locations in Chennai, Bangalore and Mumbai, Lucy Winkelmann has been able to observe and photograph some themes dear to the culture of this country and draw a parallel with the daily life of the residents of these cities.

Bollywood, Kollywood, Sandalwood have their roots in the same culture. Beliefs, castes, love are the recurring themes of these Indian productions.

Being a gripping cultural phenomenon, the Indian cinema has actually only one identity, but with many faces. These are the different aspects that filmmakers try to express in all their films, making this art so rich and contrasting.

From the slums to the posh disctricts, from the concrete of the city to sand beaches, from the movie sets to Indian streets, Lucy was guided on this invisible border where poverty stands alongside wealth, god alongside their followers, and the dream alongside the reality.
